Cockroaches

Cockroaches are insects that have a broad, flattened body but a small head. They have four wings and six legs with five claws each. There are about 4,500 species of cockroaches. There are four main species that are commonly known as pests. These are the American cockroach, the German cockroach, the Asian cockroach, and the Oriental cockroach. The sizes of cockroaches vary but the major pest species are between 1/2 and 3/4 inch.
Most female cockroaches will place their eggs into a leathery capsule and drop it to a surface as soon as to forms. These capsules have ten to thirty eggs. The exception to the rule is the German cockroach. They carry their eggs on their body in a capsule until they are about to hatch. These capsules contain thirty to forty-eight eggs. The German roach is the most common pest species in the U.S.

They can also live up to a month without their head. They can survive freezing temperatures but they prefer warm climates. They can be very difficult to get rid of once they have infested an area.
